MYTHS AND TIPS ON SKIN CARE

The presentation that I am summarizing now took place in Bucharest the past few days, when I had the joy and honor of standing a few meters away from Paula Begoun, who came to the invitation of Corina Allan ( Pasagera , for whom she did not know) to know the public in Romania and bloggers and beauty journalists interested (the event was a limited one, I was totally about 40 people). Paula looks very good (though she's been 60 years old), she's sympathetic, very dedicated, Bryan Barron, her partner in the company is ... please, see in the pictures. Tell me how many years you think man has. Much more than you say, I tell you. His secret? High sun protection every day from 20 years.
MYTHS AND TIPS ON SKIN CARE

Myths in skin care

1. Natural ingredients are better than synthetic ones

Not. In fact, many natural ingredients are a disaster for the skin (mint, for example, or lemon), while many synthetic ingredients are wonderful for the skin. Natural does not necessarily mean good for the skin. There are many examples of synthetic ingredients that are safer, more efficient and easier to assimilate in a product than many of the natural ingredients that do not have a place on our skin because they are highly irritating.

2. There is a wonder ingredient and the X cream contains it

Not. Every year, there is another prodigy that proves to be just marketing. The truth is there are many very effective ingredients.
Skin is a complex organ that stops working properly due to several factors:
- smoking
- poor nutrition
- lack of sleep
- sun exposure

3. Essential oils are essential in skin care

Not. Most essential oils are just good to smell, not to apply to the skin, and this is also true for synthetic fragrances. In the long run, fragrances of any kind are disastrous for the skin because it irritates the skin (with few exceptions: vanilla, cucumber, melon).

4. I have to choose my skin care products according to my age

Not. Age is not a type of skin. Sometimes the skin changes with age, but that's not the rule.
Stop using products that address a specific age group.
Most market products marketed for mature skin are not good for people with mature skin.

5. Adult acne is different from adolescent acne

Not. Causes of acne are the same regardless of age:
- hormones trigger excess sebum production,
- excessive pore growth of bacteria that causes acne, leading to inflammation of the skin
- dilated or closed pores that do not work properly,
- irritation and inflammation

6. Acne on the body is different from the skin

Not. Wherever acne occurs, the factors that cause it are almost always the same. Treatment is always identical on body and face.

7. I should start using anti-aging products after 35-40 years

Anti-aging products are actually sun-protecting products, and you need to use them right from the first day you take your nose to the sun three days after your birth!

8. Drink plenty of water so I do not have dry skin anymore

Dry skin has nothing to do with drinking water. Drinking water does not go into the skin. Injecting liquids into the skin is not the solution. The skin contains only 10% - 30% water, and local water addition can cause major skin imbalances!

9. Dry skin ages faster than oily skin
Very dry skin gives, but for 99% of us, the skin ages because we get old and because we are exposed to the sun, and this destroys the skin.

10. Skin can detoxify

Not. There are no toxins in the skin or pores.

11. Hot water opens the pores, recce water closes them

Not. The pores are not doors that close and open according to certain stimuli. The pores can be blocked and then look as if they are open, and when they are clean they will seem imprisoned.
Cold water and hot water do not make good skin; they are irritating and can increase the production of sebum.

12. Skin is accustomed to care products, so it's good to change it regularly

Salmon and spinach are good for the body and if we eat them for 60 years. The skin does not get used to the ingredients that make it good. You may need other products depending on the season or skin health issues.

13. There are products that have the same effect as botox
No way! Only botox has botox effect.

14. It's good to use the products I like
No, because we often like products that make us sick (Cola, for example).
The goal is to choose from the best products available on those that make good skin.

15. The skin needs different ingredients at night

Not. The only difference between night cream and day cream is that the day should contain SPF and the night one does not. The skin fixes itself all the time and needs equal help both day and night.

16. The area around the eyes needs special products

For most of us, a non-irritating, normal cream is the perfect cream for the area around the eyes, which is the same as the rest of the complexion. A product should not be small and expensive to be special for the eyes.

17. There are creams that stimulate collagen production
Yes, but many of these creams on the market are poorly formulated and sabotage collagen production.

18. Diet affects the skin

Yes! A healthy lifestyle can prevent the aging of the skin and the appearance of acne, just as an inappropriate diet can aggravate acne and speed up the aging of the skin.

19. No matter how the product is packaged, the content is important.

Counts! Avoid jar products, especially those containing antioxidants or retinol. The jar leaves delicate ingredients exposed to air, degrading them and dramatically reducing their efficiency.

20. For a beautiful skin I need a lot of care products

Not! If your skin has no problems, your routine is enough to contain:
- a delicate, water-soluble cleanser
- an AHA or BHA exfoliator
- a day cream with SPF 25 or more
- a moisturizing night cream with repair ingredients of the skin
Add additional products if you suffer from:
- acne
- rosacea
- sunburn spots
- discoloration
- very dry
skin - very fat skin
- black dots
- mixed skin
- redness

21. Thermal water spray fixes makeup.

NOT! The water, whether it's thermal, sprayed on the face, only makes the makeup wet and possibly stretches where it is not.

Tips for healthy, young, beautiful skin

Why does the skin age?

The factors that cause aging of the skin are:
Devastating effects of the sun
Loss of collagen in the skin
Loss of elastin
Bone loss
Time relaxation of the muscles
Facial movements

What does Paula say we can do to properly care for our skin?

Use sunscreen every day. Nothing is as important. Subscribe. Great SPF every day. Not beach, not solar.

Choose cosmetics containing as many antioxidants (prevent premature aging of the skin).

Choose products that match our skin type and our skin problems.

Exfoliating can do wonders for most skin types, including acne, spots, and wrinkles.

Do not smoke.

Do not drink too much alcohol.

Do not irritate the skin with inappropriate products, alcohol, cheap makeup.

Do not fade your hair excessively.

Sleep as long as you can.

Use properly applied makeup.

Move.

Call for cosmetic procedures when you feel they are right for you.

What can not make creams, but can they do cosmetic procedures?

Cosmetic interventions (injections, laser, surgery), as opposed to cosmetic products, can reduce:
- the rings and bags under the eyes
- leaving the skin on the cheeks
- leaving the skin on the throat
- large brown spots
- broken capillaries
- loss of firmness of the skin
- deep wrinkles on the forehead
- wrinkles around the eyes and mouth

Why are Paulas Choice products better than others on the market?

Because their moisturizing and makeup products for the day contain SPF.
All products contain antioxidants with proven effects on the skin, ingredients that help the skin repair itself.
All packaging prevents the penetration of air, keeping the contents active and efficient.
Effective exfoliants, AHA and BHA.
A great variety of textures for all tastes (serums, gels, creams, foams).
Products that reduce brown spots.
Products that fight wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne.
Non-irritating products.
100% without perfume.
Never tested on animals.
There are products that do not claim to do anything but do

And, that's what I add, they're not expensive.

And that's it. I remind you that I wrote everything above because I feel logical and common sense, not because someone paid me to fight for something or for something else because Paula's Choice saved my skin and because I am sure that the above information is really useful to many people. Details and explanations, as well as tips on what products to choose from depending on the type of skin and the problems you are experiencing, can be found at Pasagera on the website and on the Paulas Choice website, here .
